The primary purpose of a valve is to direct and control the flow of fluids
by starting, stopping, and throttling (restricting) flow to make processing possible. Valves are designed to withstand pressure, temperature, and flow.
Gate valve—move able metal gate in the path of process flow in pipe line. There is to type rising stem and non rising stem.
Globe valve--- a moveable metal disc in the path of process flow. It used for throttling service and it designed the installed in high used areas.
Automatic valve (control valve) it used in a control loop. It is known as an actuator in installed.
Ball valve--- a moveable element in the center of the valve. It used to open or close only.
Plug valve—quick opening. It used for regulate flow.
Heck valve—a type of automatic valve designed to control flow direction and prevent possible contamination or damage to the equipment. It prevents back flow.
There are four types: swing check, lift check, ball check and stop check.
Butterfly valve—used for throttling and on – off service.
Relief valve—designed to automatically respond to sudden increase in pressure. It designed for pressurized liquid service.
Safety valve--- last line of defense. It designed to respond quickly to excess vapor or gas pressure
